Tres Leches Cake

I’ve never had this cake, and after I ate mine, I am in AWE of what I’ve been missing out on!! A absolutely decadent cake that literally melts off your mouth.

Tres Leches - literally translated as three milks - this cake is soaked in evaporated, condensed, and heavy cream. This is an insanely moist and delicious cake! Hope you enjoy!

Tres Leches

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Cool Time: 90 minutes

Total Time: 140 minutes


Ingredients

6 large eggs (room temp) separated

1/4 tsp lemon juice

1/3 cup cold water

1.5 cups granulated sugar

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp almond extract

1.5 cups AP flour

1/2 tsp salt

2 tsp baking powder


Milk Mixture

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1 can evaporated milk

2 tsp vanilla extract.


Whipped Cream

1.5 cups heavy cream

1/4 cup granulated sugar


Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 & grease a 9x13x2 pan.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk egg whites with lemon juice till soft peaks form.

  3. In a large bowl, beat egg yolks, then add sugar till combined. Keep beating till peaks form. Add your extracts, cold water, and lightly mix till combined.

  4. Add in your flour, baking powder, and salt. Lastly, slowly fold in your egg whites till theres no more streaks. Pour your batter into pan, bake for 28-32 min, and cool for 1.5 hours at least.

  5. For the milk mixture: combine heavy cream, condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract.

  6. Invert your cake and poke holes all over with a fork and pour your milk mixture all over. Let this soak and sit in the fridge for couple hours before serving.

  7. For the whipped cream; whip heavy cream with granulated sugar till peaks form and apply on top and serve with fresh berries!
