This is easily one of the best sandwiches I’ve created, and it tastes absolutely immaculate. You’d think it’s a sweet sandwich, but nah, it has a beautiful kick from cayenne, freshness from the sage, and an incredible crisp from that sourdough.

It can be made in less than 20 minutes, and is an awesome variation from a traditional grilled cheese! I’m still shook at the flavors

Hope you enjoy!
Fig & Apple Grilled Cheese with Crispy Sage
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 35 minutes
Total Time: 55 minutes
Ingredients
1 apple (Fiji or Gala - just make sure it’s crispy AF) sliced into circles
Black figs sliced
Couple leaves of sage
4 sourdough slices (2 sandwiches)
Grated 1/2 cup Parmesan
Grated 1/2 cup white cheddar
Directions
Prep all your ingredients from above, and heat your pan to low medium with a bit of butter. Butter both sides of your bread - I used Vegan Garlic & Parm. Then, on one side of the bread, press your grated Parmesan, and lay your ingredients in this order: white cheddar, apple slices, fig slices. Lastly, add 1/4 tsp of: garlic powder, cayenne, and oregano with salt & pepper to taste. Close your bread.
Toast your bread on the pan till golden brown on both sides. The key to this sandwich is low and slow so you don’t burn it quickly. Lastly, crisp up some sage and garnish.
